We’re Mark & Kris Batte, and Ouachita’s Meadow Retreat is our little piece of the Ouachita Mountains—65 private acres near Mena, Arkansas, where we live, play and now have the opportunity to welcome others.
This is a place to slow down, spread out and experience the Ouachitas the way we love them: quiet mornings, mountain views, days on the trails and plenty of room to simply enjoy being here.
Adventure is Just Down the Road
Wolf Pen Gap is practically in the backyard.
Ouachita's Meadow Retreat sites approximatley one mile from the Wolf Pen Gap Southern Trailhead, putting miles of ATV and hiking adventure practically at your doorstep.
Bring the side-by-sides, hit the trails and make the ride to places like Missouri Falls—or spend the day exploring the forests and mountain scenery surrounding Mena.
The best part? At the end of the day, The Lazy-Ass is waiting for you back at the ranch.
A Few Miles From Mena — A World Away From Everything Else
Close enough when you need it. Far enough when you don’t.
Downtown Mean is only a few mile aways, with local shops, restaurants, art, live entertainment and the everyday conveniences you may need during your stay
But back at the ranch, town feels a whole lot farther away. Surrounded by pasture, woods and the Ouachita Mountains, you get the quiet of the country without being completely off the map.
And when cooking isn't part of the plan, Thibodaux General Store is just down the road for a Cajun-style meal.

Sometimes the best plan is no plan at all.
Fish the pond. Drink your coffee on the porch. Walk the property. Watch the mountains change with the light. Bring the family. Take pictures. Read a book. Fire up the wood-burning stove when the evening turns cool.
There’s no itinerary here and no pressure to go anywhere. You’ve got 65 acres to wander, plenty of quiet and enough room to make the weekend whatever you want it to be.
This isn’t a resort. It’s something much simpler—a beautiful piece of Arkansas with room to slow down and stay awhile.
